Lipsticks as blushes?

So, being a carrier of dry skin I find it horrendous piling powder on my face. Benefit's powder bronzer & occasionally Laura Mercier's setting powder, are all I can bare to put on my face. That means when it comes to blush, highlight and foundation.. cream is the way forward!

One day when I was using my Barry M 'Coral' Lipstick, I realised that this would be a BEAUTIFUL blush colour. Nothing better than an orange coral with a nice tan? When I tried this lipstick on my lips I found it to be pretty darn drying [it's a matte finish]. I then decided to rub it on the back of my hand and tried two ways of applying it to the apples of my cheeks...

♥ Firstly rub the lipstick/lip balm on the back of your hand, then simply use your fingers to pat the lip colour on to your cheeks and blend out with a clean finger

♥ Or, rub the lipstick/lip balm on the back of your hand and then use either a blush brush or a duo fibre brush [MAC 187] and stiple the colour on to your cheeks

And voila! Then began my obsession for lipsticks as blushes. Sure, why not just buy a cream blush? The reason for that is 1) lipsticks are generally a lot easier to get a hold of 2) lipsticks generally have a broader range of colours 3) versatility is key, using a lipstick as a blush, it cracks two eggs with one knife...

I won't deny, I definitely will be buying some cream blushes in the future. I've had my eye on the Illamasqua and the Gosh ones, but when money's tight and I have pretty coral pinks and coral orange lipsticks sitting in my makeup bag.. why not work with what one's got?

I haven't found that using this method to break me out. Sure, if you've got super oily skin or just generally super sensitive skin then maybe this won't work for you.. but it's worth a try. You only live once? Why not experiment?
